I’ve always pride myself on helping others. Please see some of my testimonials below:
Honest, fascinating and real. After meeting Danny I was under no illusions as to the nature of hooliganism. He didn’t glamorise it in any way or indeed condone it, yet was also not afraid to be honest with me.
Danny gave me a personal account of what happened on and off the terraces. A genuine person whose experiences, many can’t comprehend!!
Again, many thanks to Danny for his account. He is someone I admire greatly for his honesty and integrity.

I interviewed Danny Brown as part of my Masters research into football hooliganism. My interest in speaking to Danny was aroused after I read the book Villains.
As part of my research I had read many of these memoirs and Danny’s account was one of the more interesting books that I had come across. Thus, I deeded to speak with Danny first hand in order to further my research as I felt that he would be able to provide me with an authoritative voice on hooliganism from the 1980’s.
During the interview, I was impressed by Danny’s knowledge of hooliganism and some of the projects he has been involved with. I would recommended that current students who are interested in hooliganism, interview Danny as he is a man with a wealth of knowledge and is always willing to help out others.

My Degree is Sport, Media and Culture at the University of Brighton Chelsea School and I will hopefully gain an MA after my name.
Most of us at one stage in our lives have had misconceptions about certain people and it is clear to see on first meeting Mr Danny Brown that he has a certain aura about him.
Nevertheless after spending time in his company he is a very easy going, likeable character, as well as being very articulate and witty. But he also doesn’t suffer fools gladly and he doesn’t portray himself to be a God like celebrity despite the success of his book.

The book “Villains” by Danny Brown and Paul Brittle was the main text for my dissertation on Aston Villa Football Club and how Danny has battled against racism and violence over the past decades. As a big Villa fan, it was a brilliant read, the accounts of violent encounters and incidents are superb, but also the background of Danny Brown and how he became involved in the world of Football Violence.
Another part of the book which I found fascinating was that these lads are not just “mindless football hooligans” as the media portray, but they are genuinely big Villa supporters who have a passion for football.
I contacted Danny Brown through his website, “Black Danny”, and I was genuinely shocked and made up when he got in contact with me. Danny Brown has given me a superb interview, one which will make up the core of my dissertation. This information is a personal account from Brown, one which digs a little deeper than the book. Along with the book, I am looking at a good final mark and this is majorly due to Brown's responses and text.
My thanks go to Danny Brown for his great help and communication over the last few weeks; I couldn't have done this dissertation without his input.

I have known Danny Brown for around a year, first meeting him as an interviewee and now as a social friend.
Whilst at University as part of my degree I had to carry out a research project (dissertation) about a certain sports topic. I decided to base my work around Football Hooliganism and how the people who were involved weren’t actually a threat to society as the media portrayed them to be. After reading many books on hooliganism I encountered Danny Brown’s book ‘The Villains’. It immediately interested me as the book was different to the ones I had read previously and consisted of factual stories with a fascinating account of Mr Brown’s life growing up in Birmingham.
I proceeded to contact Danny to interview him about his life and football culture of the 1980’s. I arranged an interview with him and travelled down from Manchester to Birmingham.
He answered all my questions with fantastic knowledge of terrace culture and I have remained in contact with him ever since.
I find it of great interest personally and professionally that Mr Brown has wrote a book reflecting how his life used to be and how he has changed it around to be a law abiding citizen.
I can confirm that he is a man of great integrity, is extremely dedicated to his family and work, a generally honest person whose friendly manner and intelligent approach towards myself helped me achieve a good grade in my degree.
