Soccer Casuals

There’s a whole lot more to football violence than just mindless young men fighting each other on a Saturday afternoon. There a sub culture within football hooliganism known as soccer casuals, it started in the early 80s when clubs like Villa and Liverpool where playing in Europe.

Consequently British lads would spend a good deal of time in France and Italy getting those sought after items of clothing such as Lacoste, Fila and Tacchini, which couldn’t be bought in the UK. Mixed with the rave scene and street culture of the era, young British hooligans fashioned their own original urban fusion of clothing and culture, commonly known today as, soccer casuals.

This page is dedicated to the soccer casuals past and present, here you will find clothing, culture and links to other sites relevant to the soccer casuals.

So Adidas celebrate 60 years in the business in 2009, and to celebrate Adidas Originals have recently dropped a pretty sick new ad on U.K. TV screens.

Putting together an all-star cast of pretty much everyone you can think of, to promote 60 years of the brand, this looks like the most fun house party ever. Appearing in the video are Katy Perry, Estelle, Young Jeezy, the Ting Tings, DMC-Daryl McDaniels, Method Man, Redman, Afra, Ryukyudisko, Russell Simmons and Missy Elliott, athletes Kevin Garnett, David Beckham, Ilie Nastase and Mark Gonzales, and designers Kazuki and Jeremy Scott.

I wasn’t invited though it’s a really good concept.

Oh did I forget to mention my slight Adidas addiction.....From sport to street styles, I’ve been outfitting the world in 3 stripes for decades.

Soccer’s Original Chic

There’s a style war being fought in and around football grounds today, and its originality directly goes back to the old-school soccer casuals. The trend can be traced back to the 80’s when Tacchini shirts and tracksuits, the traditional Fred Perry shirts, Scott&Lyle jumpers, Lacoste sweaters, Adidas training shoes and hooded rain- tops began to filter through.

These uniforms were strictly exclusive and became the sign of the soccer casuals, who were at the time in the know when it came to terrace fashion.
